Connect disclosure to improvement
Link reporting preparation to management. Consultant support cannot guarantee a score; CDP decides ratings.
Start with the current questionnaire
CDP disclosure covers governance, risks, targets, emissions and actions. Preparation needs the current questionnaire and the company's applicable requirements. Carbonstop can support evidence organization, data diagnosis, response preparation and management improvements. First-time respondents need clear responsibilities. Experienced teams can review earlier answers and feedback to identify questions still lacking practice or evidence. The aim is to organize the company's actual work, rather than treating wording changes as a substitute for stronger management.
Map questions to the people holding evidence
Factory and data teams hold emissions records; governance and risk information involves management and relevant functions; supplier action requires procurement participation. A topic-based responsibility register can identify required documents, owners and preparation status. Information from different departments needs consistent periods and boundaries. Complex answers can be divided into data, policy and implementation records, making individual collection tasks clearer while retaining the relationship between the documents and the final response.
Distinguish missing documents from missing practice
A gap review should separate scattered records from practices not yet implemented. Existing actions may need better filing. Policies without execution need actual tasks. Emissions figures without assurance information need an accurate description of their status. Improvement actions can connect the current disclosure round to continuing management. Questionnaire content and assessment requirements can change, so review the applicable version rather than transferring earlier answers unchanged into the current submission.
Prepare responses that can be reviewed
The agreed scope can include questionnaire diagnosis, an evidence checklist, response structure, consistency checks and internal submission support. Answers should describe actual governance, actions and outcomes with retained records. Targets, boundaries, baselines and assurance status need clear, consistent wording. The company confirms facts and authorization before submission. Version records make later updates easier and help the next reporting team understand which evidence supported each answer and what has changed.
Connect disclosure to business use
Clearer carbon records can support brand-customer conversations, supplier cooperation and internal target management. Carbonstop has publicly described historical CDP-related cooperation, without using an unconfirmed current partner level as a service promise. The work focuses on evidence, responsibilities and improvement priorities. CDP determines assessment outcomes under its requirements. Neither consultancy participation nor rewriting answers should be described as a commitment to a particular score or as a replacement for underlying practice.

FAQ
Questions before you decide.
Can last year's response be reused?
It provides a starting point. Check the current questionnaire, organizational and business changes, data versions and policy implementation. Retain evidence that remains applicable, while updating changed facts and requirements so earlier answers do not misrepresent the present position.
Why might a policy be insufficient evidence?
A policy explains intentions and requirements. Questions may also need responsibilities, implementation and performance records. Connect it to training, actions and data; uploading a policy alone does not mean every related question has been answered.
Does support include a guaranteed rating?
No. The scope can cover responses, evidence and improvement work, while CDP determines the score. Preparation, submission and assessment outcomes are different states and should remain distinct in service descriptions and public communication.
